In two trips to Wimbledon, David Nalbandian
has reached the final and the last 16.
Unlike most of his fellow Argentines,
the 23-year-old prefers faster surfaces
and has prospered on the grass of SW19.
With a big forehand and an excellent
return of serve, especially on the backhand,
Nalbandian has been able to take on
the big servers.
His main problem over the last year
has been fitness, with a recurrent wrist
injury proving particularly troublesome.
But he has the talent to match anyone,
with five victories over Roger Federer
evidence of his potential.
The Argentine made the last 16 at Roland
Garros last month and has been as far
as the quarter-finals at the Australian
Open, the semi-finals at the French
Open and the US Open, and the final
at Wimbledon.
