His results have been steadily improving
over the last two years as he has added
more to his game behind a huge serve.
Dent has missed the last two months
with an ankle injury but began the year
well, with a final appearance in Adelaide,
and quarter-finals in Sydney, Marseille
and Miami.
Missing out on the clay-court season
is not likely to have deprived him of
too many wins, and he should be raring
to get back on grass.
Injuries have always been a problem
and, as one of the lower seeds, the
draw can prove crucial, as it did last
year when he faced Andy Roddick in round
three.
But if he is fully fit and can avoid
the top four seeds in the third round,
Dent could be ready to make the second
week for the first time.
